Evacuations in several parts of Napa County for the Valley Fire have been made advisory instead of mandatory, Napa County's Office of Emergency Services reported Monday afternoon.

The advisory evacuations cover Pope Valley Road between Aetna Springs Road and Howell Mountain Road, Ink Grade, Summit Lake Drive and North White Cottage.

Mandatory evacuations remain in effect in Napa County along Butts Canyon Road, Berryessa Estates, Snell Valley Road and Pope Valley Road from Aetna Springs North to Lake County.

The Valley Fire, which has consumed some 61,000 acres and destroyed 400 homes in Lake County, threatened areas of northeast Napa County on Sunday, but has since changed directions, fire officials reported.

Because of the fire threat, several schools in the Angwin area of Napa County canceled classes on Monday.
