The Knoxville Wildlife Area is open to the public for seasonal hiking.

They arrived by foot, but left by helicopter.

Two deer hunters got lost a few miles north of Lake Berryessa late Saturday morning, according to the Napa Sheriff's Office. The men, both in their mid- to late 20s, did not have cell phone reception or water. They were beginning to show signs of heat prostration.

The hunters parked on Knoxville Road, had a planned route but got turned around in the brush, according to the Sheriff's Office. They fired a signal shot and alerted deputies atop a ridge to their location.

The deputies guided a California Highway Patrol helicopter to the hunters' location. Neither of the men were injured.
