Investigators are still looking into the cause of death of the tourist who was found dead in her Calistoga bed-and-breakfast room on Sept. 18, Napa Police reported Monday.
Police have arrested a boyfriend, Kevin L. Jones, 41, of Altadena for suspected domestic violence on Gena Penney, 41, also of Altadena, police said.
Jones and Penney had been staying at the Pink Mansion on Foothill Boulevard. Shortly before noon on the 18th, Calistoga police and fire responded to a report of an unresponsive female in an upstairs room.
The Napa County Coroner's office has not completed its determination of what caused Penney's death. Investigators await toxicology and other test results, said Napa Police Lt. Debbie Peecook.
The case is being investigated by Napa County's Major Crimes Task Force, including Napa Police.
In an early news release, Napa Police said there were "suspicious circumstances" around Penney's death, including powder on the floor, some visible injuries and the fact that Kevin Jones had driven away from the area without reporting that Gena was either having a medical problem or was deceased.
Jones was arrested near Reno, Nevada, driving Penney's vehicle with their two dogs. He was booked into the Washoe County jail for investigation of domestic violence
He was brought back to Napa County on Friday and booked into the Napa County jail.
Peecook said it could be another couple of weeks or more before the death investigation is wrapped up.
