Moderate earthquake rattles Upvalley communities

A moderate earthquake shook Calistoga and St. Helena on Saturday morning.

The 3.4 quake struck shortly after 7 a.m. about three miles south of Calistoga, in the vicinity of Hidden Ridge Vineyard on St. Helena Road, near the top of Bothe-Napa Valley State Park, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. It shook for several seconds.

There were no immediate reports of damage.

Earlier Saturday a 3.0 magnitude temblor struck the East Bay about 9 miles northwest of Livermore and 17 miles west of Fremont.
