Napa Police have deployed special patrols and checkpoints to search for suspected drunken drivers during the Independence Day holiday, the department announced.

The enforcement campaign against those driving under the influence began Friday night, and will continue through the Fourth of July until 5:59 a.m. Wednesday morning, Sgt. Kristofer Jenny said in a news release. Officers on the patrols will check drivers for intoxication from drugs as well as alcoholic beverages.

The next anti-DUI patrol by Napa Police is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Friday and continue until 2 a.m. Saturday.
