Within a four-hour window, police officers issued 38 citations to motorists using their cell phones on Saturday, according to Napa Police.

The five officers working the special enforcement operation conducted 45 enforcement stops and issued 38 citations to motorists using their cellphones between noon and 4 p.m.

Between 8 a.m. and noon, those same officers conducted 29 enforcement stops related to bicycle and pedestrian safety, which yielded 12 citations.

Police say they will continue to be on the lookout for distracted drivers through the end of April.
