Napa Police said efforts to apprehend a man wanted for a parole violation ended in a struggle shortly after 9 p.m. Sunday at Bel Aire Plaza.

The suspect, Nicholas Steven Cornwell, 37, of Napa fought officers, then a police dog, police said.

Cornwell was treated for dog bites at Queen of the Valley Medical Center, then booked into the Napa County jail for possible charges of being drunk in public, resisting arrest and violation of parole
