The Napa Police are still investigating two shootings last month that sent two people to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Nicholas Angelo Zazzarino, 28, was arrested Jan. 17 on suspicion of attempted murder following shootings reported in the parking lot of Starbucks at Jefferson Street and Lincoln Avenue and in a Sutherland Park neighborhood.
He was charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of assault with a semiautomatic rifle on a person. He was also charged with criminal threats and unauthorized entry of a dwelling.
Zazzarino was expected back in court on Thursday, but the case was continued to March 5. He is being held without bail at the Napa County jail.
The 23-year-old Napa man who was shot at Starbucks has since been released from the hospital, police said Tuesday. Police have confirmed that Zazzarino and the victim are acquaintances. The 23-year-old’s cooperation with police has been limited.
The 66-year-old Napa man who was shot in the Sutherland Park area is still being treated at the hospital, police said. Police believe that the man was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time and does not have a relationship with Zazzarino.
Although police are aware of the victims’ identities, they are not releasing them in order to protect the integrity of the investigation, which is ongoing.
