Our Mother, Sarah Marie (Dollie) Franquelin, 91, of Napa, CA passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, with her family by her side.
She was born November 22, 1925 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the only child of Charles Ware Rowe and Mable Culver Rowe. She graduated from Austin High School in El Paso, Texas in 1944. She met her husband, Armand J. Franquelin of Napa, in New Mexico, while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. They were married in the Holy Mount Episcopal Church in Ruidoso, New Mexico on August 28, 1954, and soon thereafter moved to Napa upon Armand’s discharge from military service, where they raised their four children.
She was employed for many years by the U.S. Navy at the Mare Island Naval Shipyard, achieving status as a Logistic Management Specialist, and had a high level security clearance. During her tenure with the Navy she received numerous commendations for outstanding performance of duties.
Dollie was known for her quick wit and sense of humor. She was an avid reader and long-time member of the Laureate Gamma Xi chapter of the Beta Sigma Fi sorority. She was also a member of the Silver Spray chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She has been a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Napa since 1954.
She is survived by her children, Armand Franquelin and his wife Judy of Ogden, Utah; David Franquelin and his wife Kelly of Reno, Nevada; Deborah Franquelin and her husband Woran of Calistoga, California; and Stephen Franquelin of Calistoga, California. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Her husband, Armand J. Franquelin preceded her in death in 1982.
Dollie’s memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 1917 Third St., Napa, California 94559. A reception will follow at the church.

She loved her children dearly and loved spending time with all of them. She will be terribly missed by her family and friends.
