Police: Officer injured in struggle near South Napa Marketplace

An officer sustained a minor injury during a struggle with a transient man who was allegedly intoxicated in the area of South Napa Marketplace on Friday night, according to Napa Police.

Officers responding to a report of a man “disturbing the peace” arrived at the ARCO gas station to find Francisco Javier Magadaleno Octaviano, 27, displaying signs of alcohol intoxication, police said. Octaviano was slurring his speech, walking with an unsteady gait and, at one point, fell over, police said.

When an officer tried to contact Octaviano, the man attempted to flee before ending up on the ground in a struggle with the officer, police said.

Octaviano was eventually restrained and was taken into custody after being cleared at Queen of the Valley Medical Center. He was booked on two local warrants as well as a probation violation and on suspicion of resisting an officer and public intoxication.

One officer sustained a minor injury, but did not need to be transported to the hospital.
