A 17-year-old Napa resident was arrested Friday night after attempting to steal a lawn ornament from the front yard of an off-duty Napa County Sheriff’s deputy, according to Napa Police.

When confronted by the deputy, who showed his badge to the teen, the teen hit the deputy’s hand, knocking his phone out of his grip in an attempt to prevent him from calling authorities before running away, police said. Officers located the teenager and arrested him.
