The Napa Valley Register Editorial Board welcomes a new member this month, Chris Hammaker of Napa. He replaces Michael Haley, who announced his departure in August after four years on the board.
Hammaker is a Napa native and a graduate of Napa High School. He works as a business analyst for Huneeus Vintners and previously worked as an analyst and buyer at the Benchmark Wine Group.
He is a 2012 graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a master’s degree in public policy and a 2010 graduate of San Francisco State University with a bachelor’s degree in international relations.
Before college, he served three years in the U.S. Army as a team leader and combat engineer, including a deployment in Iraq training local army and police personnel.
The editorial board advises the editor and publisher on the weekly “Our View” editorials.
The board consists of Publisher Brenda Speth, Editor Sean Scully, Register Business Manager Cindy Webber and two other volunteer members from the public in addition to Hammaker: Ed Shenk, a retired executive from Napa Valley College who is active in the Latino community, and Mary Jean McLaughlin, a retired county employee who served in various positions, including clerk to the Board of Supervisors and the Public Information Officer for county government.
