SANTA ROSA — A San Francisco man was arraigned Thursday at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital on charges in connection with a rampage that injured several people in Bodega Bay last week. Betai Koffi, 32, of San Francisco, is charged with two attempted murders, seven assaults with a deadly weapon and a carjacking. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office said Koffi was under the influence of LSD when he went on a rampage on July 4.
A sheriff’s deputy shot Koffi three times as he allegedly drove toward the deputy in a truck that Koffi allegedly stole from a security guard at the Bodega Bay housing complex.
Koffi suffered major injuries and is in critical condition at the hospital. A date for his entry of pleas is tentatively set for Aug. 14.
Among the injured people were four of Koffi’s friends who were renting a home in the 600 block of Swan Drive in Bodega Bay, the security guard, two women and a man who were walking in the area.
