Sen. Lois Wolk, D-Davis, will honor Dr. Geni Bennetts of Napa County and Elece Hempel of Sonoma County as the Third Senate District’s Women of the Year.
Every March, the Senate celebrates Women’s History Month by honoring women whose contributions improve lives in their communities, a tradition dating back to 1987.
“Dr. Geni Bennetts has dedicated her life to helping others. For more than four decades Dr. Bennetts has served the people of California through her leadership in the medical field, serving as the director of Hematology/Oncology at Children’s Hospital of Orange County, a founding member of Children’s Health Initiative – Napa County and most currently chief medical officer and senior consultant for the pmpm Consulting Group of WeiserMazars, LLP.,” Wolk said in a news release.
Hempel is executive director of Petaluma People Services Center.
Both women will be honored at a reception at Robert Craig Winery Tasting Room, 625 Imperial Way, Napa, on Friday at 1 p.m.
