Catasstrophy Skateboards announced Napa’s first "queer skateboarding event," planned for April 1 at Napa Skatepark in Kennedy Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“QueerSkate Napa addresses a fundamental deficit in the skateboarding community in Napa," said Kenneth Fish, the founder of Catasstropy and QueerSkate Napa.
"Queers, though they must exist in Napa, are essentially invisible, especially queer skateboarders, and I think it would be nice if we could all get together, have some fun riding our favorite wooden toys, and perhaps for the first time, be enjoying ourselves while riding a skateboard in the company of other queers,” Fish said.
Though the focus will be providing a safe, judgment-free zone for queer skateboarders, the event will be open to all who want to join, Fish said. Friends and family are encouraged to come out for a day of fun, fellowship, kindness, and community.
