Authorities closed Soda Canyon Road at Silverado Trail for nearly an hour Monday afternoon during a vegetation fire north of Napa.

Cal Fire was notified of flames in the 1100 block of Soda Canyon Road at 3:41 p.m., according Courtney Duncan, an agency spokeswoman in St. Helena, who said the blaze grew to 3 1/2 acres.

Fire crews were sent to the scene starting at 3:44 p.m. and extinguished the flames by 5 p.m., although firefighters were expected to remain for about three more hours, she said. No injuries or damage to structures was reported.

The California Highway Patrol shut down Soda Canyon at 4 p.m. at its intersection with Silverado Trail, according to the CHP online incident log. The road reopened at 4:55 p.m., the Napa County Sheriff's Office said in a Nixle safety alert.
