The Vine Transit bus service is offering free rides on its buses to aid in recovery from the fires, the Napa Valley Transportation Authority announced Saturday.
“Transportation needs are often high on the list of concerns for people who are coping with disaster,” Kate Miller, NVTA’s executive director, said in the announcement. “We hope this period of free rides helps ease their burden.”
The system said all service inside Napa County will be free, as will regional connections to the Vallejo Ferry Terminal, Amtrak in Suisun/Fairfield and to BART’s El Cerrito station.
The agency warned, however, that some routes have been disrupted or curtailed because of road closures or to allow the agency to use vehicles to assist in evacuations.
