Downtown Napa is the spooky place to be on Saturday.
In the morning, the Napa Police Officer’s Association will sponsor its second annual Zombie Fun Run, a 1.3 mile run/walk starting at the Napa Animal Shelter, 942 Hartle Court behind Century Theaters and ending at Veterans Memorial Park.
At mid-day, the Napa City Firefighters Association is bringing back the Coffin Races after skipping a year due to the 2014 earthquake. The Coffin Races, called, “Rattled but not Shaken,” will be from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on First Street at Main Street in downtown Napa.
The Zombie Fun Run is a family-friendly event where participants will pass by zombie scenes. Last year, there were zombies getting married, a zombie construction scene, and a zombie family sitting down for a delicious meal of Jello-mold brains.
There is no running from or chasing involved. You can interact with the zombies if you wish or simply ignore them and look at what they are doing, the sponsors said.
This event is along the Napa River Trail. All proceeds go to benefit the Napa Police Department’s Youth Services Division.
The Coffin Races will have four divisions this year: 5 to 15 years, Goblins; 15 to 30 years, Speed Demons; 30 years and over, Crypt Keepers, and a Women’s division, Sirens.
Registration will open at 8:30 a.m. with the first race planned for 11:30 am. Individuals are welcome to ask if a team has an opening.
Firefighters are encouraging children to participate. They can check in at race registration and get assigned to a team.

Every participant will receive a T-shirt, zombie medal and goodie bag. Please, no pets allowed.
The Napa Fire Department will also be hosting a free CPR training booth for anyone who wants to learn CPR.
