Napa County Library is a source of learning and hosts a variety of programs whether for children, about art, our natural world and its people, or of the people in our community. On June 6, the library hosted “Alphabet Soup,” a community forum that brought forth a greater understanding of our sexual diversity.

I appreciate Ian’s gift as a facilitator and Eliseo’s ability to teach us while, keeping things light and fun. “Back in the day” if we didn’t understand something, we didn’t talk about it (or perhaps, in our ignorance, made fun of it). I admire the panel and their courage to share the challenges of gender identity, whether, from incidents that occurred in years past, transitions or the struggles of present-day events.

The strength of our community is derived from the well-being of all of its members. I thank LGBTQ Connection, Napa Valley Can Do and PFLAG (parents, family and friends), for recognizing a community need, bringing us together and creating a positive experience.
