I just received a letter (like most residents in Napa) from Pacific Gas & Electric with its kind offer to let me decide if I want to keep the Smart Meters that the company installed without my permission. At first glance, one might think, hey, it’s nice to have a choice in this matter.
But then I read on. Whoa there, partner, it will cost $75 for them to give me back what they took without my permission, and if I have the analog meters reinstalled, they will charge me a $10-a-month service charge to read the meters?
Man, did I feel duped. Just when I thought PG&E was stepping up, they slapped me in the face. This borders on customer extortion, if you ask me. Choice? What choice? Charging me to get back what was taken without my permission and then $120 a year to read them is hardly what I would call a choice. PG&E, your customer service (stinks).
