I have a message about a disease that I have that should offer you some help and relieve you from the present general fear that you may have of getting this terrible sickness.

I am now a victim of Alzheimer's disease, and reside in a facility for senior citizens in Napa.

I visited my daughter, Melodie Roche, and thought I saw a huge snake in her backyard that turned out to be the garden hose. We visited a physician later who diagnosed me with Alzheimer's. My "snake" was a hallucination, very common in this disease.

I have written and published two books on Alzheimer's. As a retired teacher of the retarded and mentally handicapped, I wrote “Alzheimer's Caregiving Handbook” and “ALZHEIMER'S MEMORY HOLE HAS A SILVER Lining,” published by Amazon Books.

Alzheimer's has a few blessings with its many, many curses. I have learned about the many serious problems from my own sickness and my sick residential friends that make me aware of the possible bleak future of our country. Many people have expensive programs that rehabilitate these sick residents.

I hope that these books can help people care for their family members or friends without resources who have developed the disease. Scientists predict that more than 100 million cases of Alzheimer's will occur in the U.S. by 2050.

I am asking you to talk to your friends about this prediction of utter damage to our country by losing a large group of citizens to a sickness that makes people function like they are delusional; unable to think; remember and live independently; continually needing personal care and rehabilitation.

Let them know that books that are like mine are available to help them care for a family member who developed Alzheimer's.

Well, with that I better apologize for painting this grim picture. At this point in time, there does not seem to be a cure because of the complexity of the brain. There are ways to prevent or lessen Alzheimer's severity described in the “Alzheimer's Prevention Program” by G. Small MD. Please write or email me if you want any other information.
