The Napa High Track and Field family came together last week to celebrate a very successful season. The Varsity boys team won the MEL pennant for the first time since the school joined MEL 40 years ago. The JV Girls took first place in the league. The Varsity girls and JV boys earned second place. In addition, 11 athletes continued to compete in the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters meet.

We would like to thank Hampton Inn and Suites for allowing us to celebrate our season with a potluck in their banquet room. It was difficult to find a room large enough to accommodate the athletes and their families. We appreciate Hampton Inn and Suites providing a space for our awards dinner.

During the ceremony, Coach Jones presented the Culture and Legacy Award for the first time to three special individuals. Steve and Karin Hatton took over the Track and Field program in the spring of 2014. In three years, the team grew in both the number and quality of athletes. Additionally, Jori Herman, who will be graduating this week, leaves behind a strong throwing program that grew tremendously during her four years at NHS.

Thank you Steve, Karin and Jori for your dedication to our team.
