Creators of an outdoor “adventure” theme park with attractions for active families has announced that the park will open in the Northern California city of Rocklin around Memorial Day weekend. The Rocklin City Council approved the park’s $8 million project in January 2017, and the park is expected to welcome 125,000 visitors in its first year.
The park, which is situated on a plot of land five-and-a-half acres large, features “over 100 different activities” including zip lines, a ropes course, a giant swing, boating, and rock climbing attractions like rappelling and a via ferrata course.
An area called “Kids’ Kove” will offer a point of interest for little ones, with balance beams and zip lines more appropriately sized for children aged 4-10 years old.
The park also plans to open five restaurants, an observation deck, and two pavilions for concerts, festivals, and corporate events.
Unlike other theme parks, the food and beverage options will be locally produced and of artisan quality. Phil MacDougall, who serves as the park’s vice president of sales and marketing, told Sactown Magazine that he envisions food options resembling those of Oxbow Public Market in Napa, serving up California wines and craft beer from local brewers.
According to Quarry Park Adventures president David Busch, the park will pay homage to California’s history, utilizing a gold rush theme and decorating with elements invoking the machinery and sights of life in the early days of the state. The site of Quarry Park is in the 160-year-old Quarry District of Rocklin, and as Sactown points out, businesses in the area “once supplied granite to buildings like the State Capitol and the U.S. Mint in San Francisco before it ceased operations in 2005.”
The park has already released ticketing information for the 2018 season; daily admission passports for adults will cost $39.99, with tickets for those 48-inches-tall and under costing $24.99. A limited number of season passports, at $129.99, are available now.
Quarry Park Adventures is scheduled to open at 4060 Rocklin Road in Rocklin in May 2018.
