An 83-year-old man was found dead Wednesday morning after his truck crashed into a drainage culvert in unincorporated west Sonoma County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver was unrestrained in the Chevrolet Colorado truck and suffered significant injuries. The CHP is investigating whether the driver suffered a medical emergency, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.
Officers responded around 7:40 a.m. to the crash on Bodega Avenue east of Middle Two Rock Road west of Petaluma. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.
Witnesses said the truck was driving normally until it drifted off the roadway and crashed, Sloat said.
