2-for-1: Total lunar eclipse comes with supermoon bonus (copy)

The totally eclipsed moon glows with a reddish color against the background stars over Stedman, N.C., Monday.

Two people trying to enjoy the Super blood wolf moon had a startling experience when a Florida officer ran over them with his car, authorities said.

The man and the woman were lying on a dark road Sunday night observing the rare phenomenon when a West Palm Beach Police officer struck them.

They were taken to a local hospital where they were treated for nonlife-threatening injuries, police said. Police did not release their names, but did say they were both 24 years old.

The officer, who was also not named, was patrolling the Apoxee Wilderness Trail on Jog Road and was traveling around 5 mph in his 2018 Ford Explorer. He hit the two stargazers at about 11:30 p.m., the height of the total lunar eclipse.
