A sad day for Napa. Another Mom-and-Pop business is forced to close because of high Rent increases. Sad when greed is the reason for this.

Napa Valley Dance Center has been in the same location for 29 years. But because the owners have raised the rent to an amount that she can't meet they are forced to close.

Sandy Nugent has given so much to the Napa community. She has taught thousands of kids to dance. She has taken in kids with handicaps and embraced them to be the best they can be. Along the way she has taught our children tolerance, patience, sign language. Our children are better people because of her and her love of kids and dance. She is one in a million.

Whenever she has been asked to have her dancers perform for a function she never hesitated. She did it willing and happily. Giving up many holidays to perform at the nursing homes, the retirement communities, bringing joy to all that live there.

This was a second home to many of our kids growing up. It will leave an empty hole in many hearts.

Lynn Leal who has been in with Sandy for 20 years has had to close also. She had taken care of the dancewear that our kids has needed over the years. Plus costuming all of them for the recitals. Along with her love and friendship. Napa will never be the same.

I have been lucky enough to have called them both dear friends for over 50 years. My daughter was one of Sandy's first students. My three granddaughters have danced with Sandy. They will miss this so very much. I have been at every recital. Working back stage for most of them. I will miss this.

I am saddened that someone so giving and so loving has to be put out of business because of rent hikes. A very sad day.
