Because of his positions on genetically engineered crops, pesticides, and environmental conservation, GMO Free Napa County supports Cio Perez for Napa County Supervisor for District 3.
When asked if he supports a local ban on the planting of genetically engineered crops, joining our neighbors in Santa Cruz, Mendocino, Marin, Sonoma, and Humboldt counties, he stated that he does.
In addition, when asked if he would support a ban on pesticides on all county-owned lands, he said that he would support regulation to reduce the use of pesticides. He went on to explain that pesticides should be reserved for emergency situations, for example in the case of an invasive pest, specifying that the use should be both “limited and targeted.”
When asked the same questions, current Supervisor Diane Dillon said that she is “open to discussing” these issues.
Finally, Cio Perez supports Measure C, which will protect our local water sources from the negative impacts of grape growing in our eastern hillsides.
On the other hand, Supervisor Dillon has taken no position on Measure C, citing the need for more data.
As a graduate of UC Davis in viticulture and winemaking, seasoned farmer, and past president of the Napa County Farm Bureau, Cio Perez is well aware of the needs of growers in our County and how to farm responsibly and sustainably.
We need leadership now on these time-sensitive issues, not more research and more discussion.
We urge those living in District 3 to vote for Cio Perez for Napa County Supervisor.
