When we have the need to dispose of a used, but clean and serviceable, mattress, the last thing most of want to do is add it to the landfill.

Abode Services of the Bay Area provides alternative housing to address the negative impact of homelessness. I was able to schedule a pickup time and two of the mattress were on their way. The staff indicated that Community Services of the Seventh Day Adventist Church could use the third mattress. I called them and arranged for the mattress to be picked up on Tuesday morning.
A side benefit of this experience is I get to write another letter to the Register, and it wasn't about Donald Trump.
