Take time to register to vote
We all know that voting is one of the most fundamental rights of living in a democracy. While Napa County has a high rate of registered voters, there are still 16,308 eligible voters who are not yet registered, according to the California Secretary of State.
As part of a voter registration subcommittee of Women Stand Up St. Helena, I would like to call attention to some upcoming opportunities we’ll be providing to help people register.
We will be ‘tabling’ at Sunshine Market on Tuesdays from 3-6 p.m. starting Sept. 18 and at the St. Helena Farmers Market on Friday mornings starting Sept. 21.
There are several reasons why people may need to re-register including: change of address, name change, change in political party preference, to update their signature, or simply if unsure if they’re currently registered.
It is a very simple process and takes only a few minutes, and we’re there to help if needed. Voter registration is non-partisan, so all parties (including “no party preference”) are encouraged to register.
We’ve been asked if we are providing outreach to the Spanish speakers in our communities and are pleased to report that the UpValley Family Centers are taking the lead in voter registration efforts targeting Spanish speakers throughout upper valley communities.
Please help spread the word.
