Thanking Vintners for supporting NapaLearns

  • Updated

On behalf of our board of directors and the staff and students of Napa County public schools, I would like to thank the Napa Valley Vintners for their generous grant of $500,000 to NapaLearns. Their funding signals their continuing support of our work on behalf of 1,000 teachers and 20,000 students since 2010.

Our mission is to equip every student in Napa County with the skills they need to succeed in college, careers, and their community. With donations from our community, NapaLearns has invested more than $8.5 million in innovative public education programs that improve graduation rates, boost academic achievement, and ensure that students have the skills they need to compete and thrive in today’s -- and tomorrow’s -- workforce.

NapaLearns has been known for investing our resources into technological innovations in our schools. But that’s not all we do: Our approach is to seed-fund initiatives that are eventually paid for and sustained by the school districts.

We support teacher professional development and technology for 12 schools in Napa to become New Tech Network project-based learning environments. We award tuition scholarships and 150 teachers have completed their master’s degrees in innovative teaching at Touro University.

And together with the Napa County Office of Education, we launched the Digital Early Learning initiative, which promotes literacy for English language learners in all County preschool classrooms with impressive results.

We are now focusing on closing the math achievement gap for students in pilot classrooms in Napa, Calistoga, and Howell Mountain, as well as integrating robotics with algebra and geometry in six middle and high schools.

Systemic change doesn’t happen overnight or even in one school year. We are so grateful that we have such tremendous, long-term support from Auction Napa Valley, as well as many other donors, to make sure that all of our students have opportunities to learn in exciting and impactful ways.
