A letter to the editor to the firefighters, from near or far, the people from Sonoma, Napa and Mendocino counties: we cannot thank you enough for all you did to control and stop all of the fires that surrounded us. The loss of life and property was tremendous, but it would have been much worse had it not been for your incredible effort. We can never thank you enough.
With all the destruction that the fires caused, there had to be a time for rebuilding and time was of the essence. Vast areas were without power. Not too far from where I live there was a large -- and I mean large -- staging area. Trucks were moving into and out of the area what seemed like around the clock. This wasn't a work day as usual, this was "we have major problems out there, now let’s get out there and fix the problems as fast as we can."
Based on the amount of equipment I observed, PG&E brought in equipment from all over Northern California and maybe beyond California. These folks didn't wait for the fires to go out; they started working to rebuild as soon as the area was safe to move into.
