Zack Sims of Napa placed eighth in a field of 77 players to lead the Holy Names University (Oakland) men’s golf team at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational earlier this month.
Sims, a Napa High School graduate, had rounds of 77, 68 and 72 for a 1-over-par 217 total at Turlock Golf & Country Club.
California Baptist won the team championship. Holy Names was seventh in the 13-team field.
Julia Grimm of Napa placed in two events for the Sacramento State women’s track and field team on Saturday at the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational in Los Angeles.
Grimm, a Vintage High graduate, was fourth in the javelin (140-00) and 10th in the high jump (5-1 ¾).
Grimm transferred to Sacramento State from Santa Rosa Junior College.
Alex Swanson, a Vintage High graduate and a former member of the Napa Valley Swim Team, received Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic honors for the University of Hawaii women’s swimming and diving team, it was announced earlier this month.
Swanson, a senior who is from Napa, swims freestyle and breaststroke events.
Kathryn Robinson of American Canyon finished in 24th place in the girls 12-18 division at the 69th Sacramento City Junior Easter Championship last month at Bing Maloney Golf Course.
Robinson had rounds of 88 and 83 for a 171 total in the Junior Golf Association of Northern California event.
Robinson shot an 85 and placed 14th in January at the JGANC’s Bobby Clampett Junior Championship at the Quail Lodge Resort & Golf Club at Carmel-By-The-Sea.
Connor Chesky of St. Helena tied for 94th place for the Kansas State men’s golf team at the Tiger Invitational last week.
Chesky had rounds of 76, 83 and 79 for a 238 total at the Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Missouri.
Kansas State was second as a team. Missouri won the team title.
