NOTES AND QUOTES for a Monday in the Napa Valley: Trevor Diskin, a utility player on the baseball team, was named to the Department of Athletics Honor Roll at San Francisco State. A total of 119 Gator student-athletes were named to the honor roll, as they achieved at least a 3.0 grade point average last semester

Diskin appeared in 17 games and pitched 25 innings last year as a junior. He recorded his first win as a Gator in San Francisco’s 6-4 victory over Holy Names.

Diskin is a Napa High School graduate and a transfer from Napa Valley College, where he was named All-Bay Valley Conference second team.

Janelle Travis scored 20 points to lead the Washburn University women’s basketball team past host Nebraska-Kearney Thursday, 82-70, at the H & S Center.

Travis, a Justin-Siena graduate, was 6 of 9 from the field and 4 of 7 from long range. She also had six assists and three rebounds in 20 minutes.

The win was the sixth in a row for Washburn (13-5 overall, 8-3 Mid America Intercollegiate Athletics Association).

Noelle Roldan had four rebounds and two steals in 17 minutes for the Dominican University of California women’s basketball team in last week’s 75-46 Pacific West Conference loss to Point Lomas in San Diego.

Roldan is a Napa High graduate.

Napa High graduate Kristina Kountouris scored 10 points for the Solano Community College women’s basketball team in the Falcons’ 98-70 Bay Valley Conference win over Laney College-Oakland last week.

Solano was 25 of 35 free-throw shooting in the second half of the game.

Kountouris is a sophomore guard for the Falcons.

The 2016 U.S. Olympic men’s and women’s marathon trials will be held in Los Angeles.

The races, to be televised by NBC, will start separately. The annual Los Angeles Marathon will be held a day later.

Runners can qualify for the trials at this year’s Kaiser Permanente Napa Valley Marathon.

Taylor Willis started at guard and scored eight points in 16 minutes, helping the UC Santa Cruz women’s basketball team to an 83-42 win last week over host Whittier College at the Graham Athletic Center.

Willis, a Napa High graduate, was 2 for 3 on 3-pointers and had two assists.

The first day of practices for spring sports teams in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section is Feb. 10.

Teams can play games starting Feb. 28.

Yonni Michovska of Napa tied for fourth place on the uneven parallel bars (9.775) and was 11th on vault (9.600) for the host UC Davis women’s gymnastics team as the Aggies beat Sacramento State Friday, 195.500-193.575 in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation dual meet at the Pavilion.
