The Vintage High badminton team improved to 4-1 in Monticello Empire League play with a 14-1 win over visiting Rodriguez on Wednesday.

Bella Campbell won 21-18, 21-18 at No. 1 singles for the Crushers, Wood’s Audrey Ocampo knocked off No. 2 Martha Arroyo 21-15, 15-21, 21-15, but Vintage won the rest.

Winning at No. 3 through No. 8 singles, in order, were Maryanna Reyes 21-18, 22-20, Izza Belle Ygnalaga 21-8, 21-9, Anna Douglas 21-10, 21-11, Mary Lastrella 21-11, 21-8, Zoie Cortez 21-17, 24-22, and Emma Hall 21-18, 22-20.

In doubles, Campbell and Reyes won 18-21, 21-19, 21-12, Douglas and Ygnalaga 21-10, 21-12, Arroyo and America Baltazar 21-12, 17-21, 21-10, Cortez and Lastrella 21-16, 21-14, Hall and Ixchel Sanchez 21-10, 21-16, America Garcia and Fatima Pena 21-19, 21-9, and Vineela Donthi and Carla Magana 21-14, 21-6.

Imhoff lifts Carroll with 30

Ryan Imhoff, a Napa High School graduate, scored 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while the Carroll College (Helena, Montana) defense played an outstanding game in a 61-53 win over seventh-seeded Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) in the first round of the NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri Thursday.

“Imhoff was a monster on both ends,” Carroll head coach Carson Cunningham said.

Imhoff was efficient, going 14-21 (.667).
