Vintage High junior MacKenzie Mills ran a strong race to take first place in the varsity girls race at the Monticello Empire League Cross Country Championships Wednesday at Lagoon Valley Park in Vacaville.

Mills finished the 3.0-mile race in 19 minutes, 18 seconds in leading the top eight finishers who received All-MEL patches.
