Three competitors from Sidekicks Martial Arts in Napa came home with gold medals from a taekwondo tournament in Folsom last Saturday.

Sienna Tijero won her division in an upset victory against an opponent who is at least a foot taller than she is.

Jazlynn Tijero claimed top honors in her division by defeating a competitor who was in the next highest division, red belt, beating with a 12-point spread.

Amber Cinq-Mars won her division with dramatic upset, beating an opponent who was 15 years old and clearly at least a foot taller than her.

“We are all very proud and want to congratulate our three girls on our competition team for doing an amazing job,” said their coach, Matt Weber.

Youth Track and Field

The Napa Track Club participated in the annual Tom Moore Youth Classic, hosted by the Central Valley Roadrunners Track Club at Oakdale High School on May 28 and 29.

In the 9-10 age division, Kashin Adams placed fourth in the boys long jump and recorded a personal best in the 800-meter run. Juliette D’Eliseo participated in the girls long jump and achieved personal bests in the 400 and 800.

The 11-12 division saw Liam Wallace-Harper win the boys high jump, Ainsley Adams capture the girls 1500-meter race walk and achieve a personal best in the 3000-meter run, and Sofia Tinnon continue her dominance in the Pacific Association by winning the girls shot put and javelin and placing second in the discus.

In the 13-14 girls division, Maddie Klungel won the triple jump and was sixth in the 100 hurdles, Maija Turjanis was second in the 100 hurdles and fifth in the triple jump, Mia Oggenfuss was third in the high jump and sixth in the 100 hurdles, while Laleh Schaeffer was sixth in the triple jump.

The 15-18 division saw Sydney Griego place second in the triple jump and fifth in the long jump, while Quentin Dervin was third in the shot put.

On June 4, the club participated in the MP Striders Sectional track meet at Luther Burbank High School in Sacramento. In the 9-10 boys division, Brady Lowell scored a second-place medal and moved into the NTC record books by recording the third best mark in this event.

In the 11-12 girls division, Sofia Tinnon led Napa with victories in the shot put, discus and javelin. Cassi Richardson won the 1500-meter race walk in a personal-best time and placed fourth in the shot put. Leah Condon participated in the 200-meter run and scored a personal best in that event.

The 13-14 boys division saw Casey Potrebic have a busy day, winning the 3000-meter run, taking third in the 1500-meter run, and scoring a personal best in the discus. Cooper Stewart continued his inaugural season by winning the discus and taking second in the javelin. Drew Holloran participated in the 3000-meter run and the javelin.

In the 13-14 girls division, Carly Johnson won the javelin, placed second in the shot put and was third in the discus. Mia Oggenfuss won the triple jump and was second in the high jump. Maija Turjanis placed second in the 100 hurdles, 200 hurdles and triple jump. Laleh Schaeffer placed third in the triple jump and fifth in the 200 hurdles. Gabriella Richardson had a good showing in the shot put with a personal best.

The 15-16 boys division saw Jared Kenney win the discus throw and place third in the shot put. Quentin Dervin was second in the shot put and third in the discus throw.

In the 17-18 girls division, Bella Oggenfuss won the high jump and 100 hurdles, while Sophia Marseilles claimed the triple jump.
