Napa Valley Swim Team competes in Pacific Swimming 10U Championships

Competing for the Napa Valley Swim Team at the Pacific Swimming 10U Championships on Feb. 3 were, bottom row from left, Elijah Stanley, Aiden Frisinger, Niko Tavakoli, Jordan Arbuckle, Claire Hayashi, top row, Nina Stanley and June Kelly.

The Napa Valley Swim Team had six swimmers qualify for and compete in the Pacific Swimming 10 & Under Championships in Sunnyvale on Feb. 3 with Coach Gina Barsotti.

Almost 500 of Pacific Swimming’s top young athletes from 60 swim teams competed at the meet. Pacific Swimming’s territory includes the greater San Francisco Bay Area, the coast from Monterey County to the Oregon border, the Stockton-Modesto area and the Reno-Lake Tahoe area.

Claire Hayashi, 8, competed in four events and two relays, placing second in the 25 freestyle and 50 freestyle, and fourth place in 100 individual medley. Jordan Arbuckle, 7, competed in three events and two relays, placing second in 25 breaststroke, third in the 50 breaststroke and seventh in 25 butterfly. June Kelly, 8, swam in four events and two relays, achieving 100 percent personal best times with a sixth-place finish in the 50 backstroke.

Aiden Frisinger and Elijah Stanley competed in the 8 & Under boys group, with Frisinger achieving 100 percent best times. For the 9-10 group, Nina Stanley swam in one event and two relays, achieving 100 percent personal best times.
